Right before Ash Wednesday, friends threw us a party, actually the party was for our book The Wondrous Cross, and we just happened to be along for the ride. The book proved to be a good host for our friends and family who filled The Guild as we celebrated its publication. Before the launch, someone asked I was nervous, and I replied a bit, but once people began to arrive, I realized I didn’t have anything to worry about. So my hair was a little messed up, big deal. Or I stumbled a bit when reading from the book, keep reading. These people knew and loved us, and supported and encouraged our writing. Plus the evening was just plain fun. Someone told me it was like a church social but not in a bland room at the church. (Really, local folks, check out The Guild on Front Street in Wheaton. It’s a lovely setting). As I look back on the evening, we were celebrating the book’s launch with our brothers and sisters in Christ, who love the One who died on that Wondrous Cross. As we walk through Lent and Holy Week approaches, we pray that as you read the book, you, too, will fall in love with Christ and what he did on that Cross that changes everything.
